How to Make a Restaurant Website (Menu, Bookings, Reviews)
The short answer
A restaurant website needs four things: a readable menu as HTML text (not a PDF), a reservation method (a booking link, WhatsApp button, or phone number), location details with a map link and hours, and two or three real photos of food and the room. Build it as a single fast-loading page, put the menu one tap from the top, and make the phone number clickable. Everything else is optional.
Most restaurant websites fail at the only job they have: showing a hungry person the menu, the hours, and how to book — on a phone, in under ten seconds. Before you think about design, get those three things right. A diner standing outside your door will not pinch-zoom a scanned PDF menu.
What pages does a restaurant website actually need?
One page is enough for most restaurants: hero with name and cuisine, menu, gallery, reservations, location and hours, contact. Put the menu as real HTML text so Google can index dish names — that is how you rank for searches like 'butter garlic prawns near me'. Reservations can be as simple as a tel: link and a WhatsApp button; you do not need booking software on day one. The Braise restaurant template ships all of these sections in a single HTML file with smooth scroll animations, so you edit text and photos and you are done.
Do not paste screenshots of reviews. Quote two or three short ones as text with the reviewer's first name, and link to your Google Business profile for the rest. Keep your Google listing as the source of truth — it is what shows up in Maps anyway.
- Menu as HTML text, prices in ₹, updated seasonally
- Clickable phone number and WhatsApp link for bookings
- Google Maps link, full address, and accurate opening hours
- 3–6 compressed photos (under 200KB each) of food and interior
- One clear call to action per screen: Book, Call, or Directions
If you run more than one venue or also need pages for events and catering, the Interactive Template Bundle gives you nine templates to mix sections from — same editing workflow, no build tools, deployable to any free static host.
