What a Real Estate Agent Website Actually Needs
By Abhishek V K · Founder, DigitalItUp
The short answer
A real estate agent website needs five things: featured listings with price, location, carpet area and photos; a clear service area ('I sell in Whitefield and Indiranagar', not 'all of Bangalore'); proof - recently sold properties with outcomes; a lead form asking only name, phone and budget; and your RERA registration number displayed. You do not need a full property portal - buyers browse portals, but they hire agents from personal sites that build trust.
Buyers search on 99acres and MagicBricks. Your website's job is different: when someone gets your number from a referral or a site board, they Google you before calling back. The site exists to pass that trust check and capture the lead.
Which features matter?
- Featured listings: 6–12 current properties with price, locality, configuration and honest photos
- Area specialisation: name your micro-markets - specialists get referrals, generalists get ignored
- Recently sold: nothing builds trust like closed deals
- About: your photo, years active, RERA registration number
- Lead form: name, phone, budget, buy/sell - nothing more
- WhatsApp click-to-chat: in India this converts better than any form
Do you need IDX or portal integrations?
For an individual agent or small brokerage, no. Portal-style search on a personal site adds cost and maintenance while sending visitors down rabbit holes instead of toward your phone number. Hand-curate a dozen listings and update them weekly; a manually maintained page that loads instantly beats a laggy synced database.
The Keystone real estate template has listing cards, an agent profile section and a lead form in a single HTML file - no WordPress, no plugins to update, and it loads instantly even on mobile data, which matters when a lead Googles you from a site visit - updating a listing is editing a few lines of text and swapping an image. If you want to eventually offer simple sites to builder clients as a side income, The Template Business covers how people turn exactly this skill into a product.
